When choosing hollow boards, in addition to requesting inspection reports and product certification from the distributor, you can also visually assess their appearance quality. I. Manufacturing Process
The assessment can be made from several aspects, including slicing and splicing thin sheets, joint treatment, defect repair techniques, sanding defects, substrate defects, and other aesthetic damages and contaminants. Generally, products are considered superior if they can be visually inspected by individuals with normal vision from a distance of about 1 to 1.5 meters without any visible process defects, substrate defects, man-made damage, or contamination that would affect their decorative appearance.
II. Check whether the product has obtained China Environmental Labeling certification.
It is well known that formaldehyde contained in the adhesives used in the processing of hollow boards can pose health risks to humans. When purchasing hollow boards, be sure to check whether they carry the China Environmental Labeling Product Certification, which is a certification that ensures both high quality and compliance with environmental standards.
3. Epidermal (section) thickness
The thicker the veneer, the better its durability. After painting, the solid wood feel is stronger, the wood grain is clearer, and the color is more vivid and saturated. To determine the thickness of the veneer: examine the edges of the board for signs of sand-through or glue seepage; perform a water test to check whether greenish discoloration or visible substrate shows through. If any of these issues are present, it usually indicates that the veneer layer is relatively thin.
