How can you tell the quality of hollow board knife cards?
The hollow-board blade clamp is designed specifically for use with hollow-board boxes. How can we determine the quality of hollow-core blade cards—a question that concerns many people? A simple, practical, and accurate method is the burning test. By observing the phenomena and odors produced during combustion, we can assess whether the hollow-core blade cards are toxic. There are primarily four scenarios to consider.
1. It is non-flammable and extinguishes immediately upon removal from the flame. The flame and smoke are green at the base and yellow at the tip. After the fire goes out, a pungent odor of hydrochloric acid remains. If ignited again after being removed from the flame, it continues to burn with an orange-yellow flame and smoke. During combustion, droplets of molten material continuously fall, emitting a petroleum-like odor.
2. Combustible; continues to burn after being removed from the flame. The flame and smoke are blue at the base and yellow at the top. During combustion, molten material continuously drips down, emitting a paraffin-like odor.
3. It is flame-retardant, extinguishing immediately upon removal from the flame. The flame is yellow in color, and when burning, it expands and develops cracks, emitting a pungent odor reminiscent of phenol.
4. Flammable; continues to burn after being removed from the flame; the flame is orange-yellow with black smoke, and black carbon particles fly into the air; emits a styrene-like odor.
