How do hollow boards achieve resistance to aging?
Hollow-core boards not only offer waterproof and moisture-resistant properties, are lightweight, and conserve materials, but also exhibit wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and anti-aging performance. So, how do hollow-core boards achieve their anti-aging properties? And in what specific aspects do these properties manifest themselves?
The aging resistance and UV resistance of hollow boards are achieved by adding certain antioxidants, as follows:
1. In the formulation of hollow plastic sheets, adding an appropriate amount of titanium dioxide not only does not affect the original mechanical properties of the sheet but also significantly enhances the weathering resistance of the plastic hollow sheet.
2. In the formulation of hollow plastic sheets, replacing lead salt stabilizers with barium-tin stabilizers not only allows for a relative reduction in the amount of stabilizer used but also improves both the impact toughness and the resistance to atmospheric aging of the hollow plastic sheets.
3. By using appropriate heat stabilizers at suitable dosages and simultaneously adding auxiliary heat stabilizers, UV absorbers, pigments, and other additives, the atmospheric aging resistance of plastic hollow sheets can be effectively improved.
4. Iron oxide red, phthalocyanine blue, carbon black, phthalocyanine green, and titanium dioxide are pigments with relatively good weather resistance; however, when titanium dioxide is added, white powder may precipitate during the aging process. In contrast, selenium yellow, permanent yellow, and medium chrome yellow are pigments with poorer weather resistance. When manufacturing products using plastic hollow boards, it becomes necessary to take into account certain structural technical parameters of these materials.
Hollow board is manufactured through a single-step extrusion process using copolymer-grade polypropylene. It boasts advantages such as being lightweight, impact-resistant, available in multiple colors, waterproof, and oil-resistant. Moreover, it is non-toxic and clean, meeting the standards of food GMP. Hollow boards can be reused, recycled, and reduced in volume, making them an ideal material that aligns with future market demands and thus highly favored by the packaging industry.
