Hollow Board: What Factors Influence the Price of Hollow Boards?
As a popular packaging material in today’s market, hollow board features a three-layer corrugated structure that is both structurally sound and boasts excellent cushioning performance. 1. Weight of hollow-core boards: Naturally, the heavier a hollow-core board is, the more raw materials the manufacturer uses, and thus its price will be higher than that of lighter hollow-core boards.
2. Color of hollow-core panels: The color of hollow-core panel products can be custom-made according to the customer’s requirements; all that the hollow-core panel manufacturer needs to do is add the corresponding color masterbatch. Of course, once color masterbatch is added, the price of the hollow-core panels will be higher.
3. Proportion of recycled materials: Recycled-material hollow boards are hollow boards made by one-time injection molding with a certain proportion of recycled materials added. Obviously, the higher the proportion of recycled materials, the lower the price of the hollow board will be.
4. Hollow board materials: Hollow board manufacturers typically use polyethylene and polypropylene. Recycled materials are further categorized into Grade 1 recycled material and Grade 2 recycled material. The prices differ significantly, and hollow board manufacturers charge different prices for these two types of raw materials; during certain periods, the price difference can be quite substantial.
5. The raw materials for hollow boards can be categorized into virgin materials and recycled materials. Virgin materials outperform recycled materials in terms of performance. Consequently, the price of hollow boards made from virgin materials is noticeably higher than that of ordinary materials. Some hollow-board manufacturers even use entirely recycled materials, resulting in inconsistent product quality and significantly shortening the service life of the hollow boards themselves.
6. Structure of hollow-core panels: For panels of the same weight, different structures exist. Some are formed in a single injection-molding process and require no subsequent processing; others, however, undergo multiple processes—including welding—before being finalized, naturally driving up costs and resulting in higher prices. Additionally, features such as anti-slip strips, steel tubes, and built-in RFID chips can significantly increase the cost of hollow-core panels, thereby raising their prices accordingly.
