Currently, hollow board, as a new type of environmentally friendly packaging material, has gained great popularity in the market. Perhaps some people are still not very familiar with it. Therefore, in this article, Zhejiang YORO Packaging will introduce it from six aspects, enabling everyone to better understand hollow board.
1. Wall Thickness: Hollow boards come in a variety of thicknesses—from 2 mm to 10 mm. Different thicknesses result in varying load-bearing capacities and weights. Customers will customize the thickness of hollow boards according to their specific packaging requirements when ordering from board manufacturers.
2. Basis Weight: As mentioned earlier, different thicknesses result in different weights. The basis weight of a hollow board refers to the mass of one square meter of such a board. Once the thickness and material density are set on the sheeting machine, the basis weight is determined accordingly. For example, a hollow board with a thickness of 5 mm typically has a basis weight of around 850 g. Board manufacturers can increase the density and thus the basis weight according to customer requirements.
3. Load-bearing: The load-bearing capacity is determined by various factors, including raw materials, structure, basis weight, and thickness.
4. Color: The diverse packaging requirements for products necessitate that our hollow board products also come in different colors. Generally, white boards are made from brand-new materials; antistatic boards typically come in black and gray, while other colors—including blue, red, yellow, green, and more—are available as well.
5. Raw Materials: The raw materials for hollow boards include PP and PE; the proportion of each material varies depending on the required hardness.
6. Performance: Different auxiliary materials can be added to meet various packaging requirements. Basic performance characteristics include moisture and water resistance, structural stability, lighter weight compared to solid boards, rich color options, non-toxic and odorless properties, corrosion resistance, and high load-bearing capacity. Special performance features include antistatic properties, flame retardancy, thermal insulation, and resistance to earthquakes and drops.
